Just after Thanksgiving 1999, 43 French beauty queens visited Alligator Bayou as part of a scenic tour prompted by the state's tricentennial and coordinated by the Louisiana Office of Film & Video and the Louisiana Office of Tourism. Here, French TV crews filmed a few of the contestants for sequences that aired in Paris on Dec. 11 during the Miss France Beauty Pageant 2000. The girls, according to Lela Milcic, producer, loved Alligator Bayou and said that it's "just like a dream. Magnificent. Lovely." We thought they were pretty cute, too--well okay, gorgeous, as you can see! Some 12 million people watched the pageant and its beautiful contestants, who represented every region of France. They were judged on inner and outer elegance, beauty, intelligence, culture and poise, and represented every region of France. |
